Texas Snyder Girls Trip

A few weeks back my sisters, mom, and I met up in Texas for a fun girls trip. My sister's family lives in Dallas and another sister lives in New York but needed to get to Waco to start her summer internship. The week she was headed from Utah to Texas was the same week that Greg would be out of town in Toronto for work. I was nervous to have Lars all by myself for a full week, so I found a great price online and booked a flight to Dallas for the week. My little sister is home for the summer, so she came on the flight with me. Lars's first flight went splendidly well and we had a great time in Texas. Lizzy and I got there a day earlier than the others so we baked cookies, took naps, and got lots of cousin play time. The kids were so darling with Lars. While the older kids were at school, Benson was so so sweet with Lars. He always wanted to know where he was and he would find lots of toys and blankets to share with him. He's going to be a great dad someday! Melissa gave Lars his first bath in a sink, which was pretty fun. He loved it!

The next day, we headed to Waco with Emily and my mom. I got to stop at the office of the company I worked for in Dallas. It was so fun to see my old co-workers and introduce them to little Lars. We got to Waco and helped Emily get settled in her new apartment, run some errands, and go to my favorite Torchy's Tacos. After dinner, we drove around and stopped at an ice cream truck called Pokey-o's. They have delicious ice cream cookie sandwiches made with Blue Bell ice cream. My roommates and I loved to go to Pokey-o's in Dallas so it was fun to take my sisters there. Then we took some photos in front of fun murals. We stayed at a great AirBNB that was pretty much on Baylor campus. The gals stayed up chatting but I was pretty worn out from traveling with Lars so I had a little breakdown and went to bed early. :)

The next day was Magnolia day! Emily will be doing an internship with the Magnolia team (as seen on the HGTV show "Fixer Upper") so this was the whole point of our visit. We went to the Silos and explored. They have a big store with lots of fun decorations and T-shirts and such. We bought a few things and then explored the gardens outside. They have a cute little greenhouse shop and lots of fairy garden supplies which was pretty adorable. We ate at the food trucks and Emily stood in line to get us a sampling of bakery items. Everything was so cute and we had a fun time checking it out.

In the afternoon we drove back to Dallas and stopped at one of their great malls. On the way, I got to remember the joys of Dallas traffic. I forgot just how terrible it is to drive there during rush hour. We found some great things for mom, which was fitting because it was Mother's Day weekend.

When we got back to Melissa's house we had a fun time playing with the kids. I cooked fish tacos and went to Calvin's soccer game. He played goalie and I was so impressed! That boy has a great future in soccer. Then we went to Trader Joe's so that Emily and I could show everyone our favorite things to buy there. We also got to go to Matilda's dance recital. I was pretty bummed that I missed her performance but little Lars needed to eat right at the same time! Luckily I got to watch the video replay. I can't believe how old she is getting and how graceful she is. We chose out tulips to give her after the recital and they perfectly matched her outfit. :)

We also got to celebrate Lizzy's birthday in Texas. We went to Rudy's and had some great BBQ. Melissa made her the best caramel brownies. Beatrix and Lars had fun sitting next to each other in their car seats everywhere we went. Bea kept reaching to hold Lars's hand. They are exactly a year apart in age.

We had a wonderful time! Lizzy, Lars, and I left early Sunday morning so I could be home to celebrate Mother's Day with Greg. He had Cadbury chocolate and maple syrup waiting for me at home from his Canadian travels. He wrote me a great card. He had also gone to the store to get a bunch of ingredients to make baked ziti that I had been wanting for quite awhile. He was planning to make it for me, but I decided I would prefer to make it myself and HE could watch the baby. Ha!

It was a great week to be with so many wonderful women in my life, celebrate my mom, and get to be celebrated myself!
